After a lengthy wait of seven months, the much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan, featuring Vijay, has finally premiered in cinemas. Currently serving as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay has transitioned from being a beloved figure in Kollywood to a dedicated leader managing the state's affairs. Fans in Tamil Nadu eagerly secured tickets for the First Day First Show to witness their idol's final performance on screen. Many cinemas are operating overnight to maximize showings of the film, with Chennai's screens exclusively reserved for Thalapathy starting at 12:30 AM on July 23.
The atmosphere outside theatres in Chennai resembled a grand festival. Large crowds gathered to honor their cinematic hero, who has now taken on a real-life role as a leader. Viral clips depict excited fans dancing and welcoming Vijay back to the big screen for his final appearance. Fireworks illuminated the night sky, creating an unforgettable experience for the city.

Prior to the release of Jana Nayagan, director H Vinoth shared his thoughts on the challenges faced during production. He acknowledged that the path to the film's debut was fraught with difficulties, stating, "This has definitely been a tough journey, but the understanding between the producer and the actor made the process smoother." He highlighted the support from producer Venkat Narayana, who reassured Vijay that he would always be there for the film. Vinoth noted that despite facing numerous obstacles, including financial issues, the strong bond between the two helped alleviate some of the pressure surrounding the project. He expressed hope that if the film performs well, it would serve as a reward for the struggles endured during its making.
In Tamil Nadu, ticket prices for Jana Nayagan are capped at Rs 190, while in other regions, prices are significantly higher. In cities like Bengaluru, tickets are being sold for Rs 2500, and in Mumbai and Delhi, prices reach up to Rs 700, reflecting the film's immense popularity.
The film Jana Nayagan is also set to release under the title Jana Neta in Hindi. It features a star-studded cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Narain, and is categorized as a political thriller.
