New Delhi [भारत]July 23 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has given an adjournment notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the NEET-UG question paper leak, systemic failure of the public examination system, police action against peaceful protesters and deteriorating health of activist Sonam Wangchuk.

In his notice, the AAP leader highlighted that repeated paper leaks have "shaken public confidence in the fairness and credibility of India's examination system." He also pointed to the tragic impact it was having on students, noting that at least 22 candidates committed suicide in a period of 46 days after the original exams were cancelled.

Question raised on examination system

The letter reads, "I wish to draw your attention to an extremely sensitive matter of public importance. The matter pertains to large-scale paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET-UG examination conducted by the NTA on May 3, 2026, which led to its cancellation and subsequent nationwide re-examination. This is the fourth NEET paper leak in the last nine years, highlighting the persistent weaknesses in this prestigious medical entrance examination of the country and to protect its sanctity." "Raises serious questions on the effectiveness of the measures taken. Such repeated violations have shaken public confidence in the fairness, credibility and transparency of India's examination system."

More than 2 lakh students did not appear in the re-examination

In the letter, the AAP leader noted a significant drop in the number of candidates appearing in the re-examination compared to the original exam. He said in the letter, "Due to the cancellation of the examination, students and their families are facing unprecedented mental and practical difficulties. While 22,05,035 candidates appeared in the original examination, only 19,99,895 candidates appeared in the re-examination; which means that more than 2.05 lakh candidates skipped the examination. This is the highest absenteeism in the history of NEET-UG. This extraordinary absence is a huge dent in the public confidence in the authenticity of the examination process." Reflects decline."

Issue of suicide of students raised

Sanjay Singh has highlighted the dire human cost of the NEET-UG exam crisis, and pointed to a tragic series of student suicides following the cancellation of the original exams. The letter further said, "What is most tragic is that in the period of 46 days between the cancellation of the original examination and the re-examination, at least 22 NEET candidates committed suicide in despair. This tragic situation underlines the appalling nature of repeated failures in India's most important competitive examinations."

There is also mention of action against Sonam Wangchuk and protesters.

Expressing outrage over the "undemocratic" action, Sanjay Singh in his letter also said that the forced removal of Sonam Wangchuk from her 20-day hunger strike at Jantar Mantar is a blatant attempt to silence the demand for transparency in the examination system. Singh condemned the Delhi Police for using tear gas and lathicharge against lakhs of students and parents marching for NEET accountability, and called the imposition of Section 163 a brutal suppression of constitutional freedom. He further alleged that the administration suppresses the media and disrupts communications to hide the scale of the police action, while Wangchuk's deteriorating health in the hospital remains a matter of grave national concern.
