Inter Miami CF have officially completed the signing of Brazil international midfielder Casemiro following his departure from the English Premier League club Manchester United, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Casemiro has signed a contract with the reigning 2025 MLS Cup presented by Audi champions that will keep him at the club through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with an option to extend until June 2029. Inter Miami also obtained Casemiro’s Discovery Priority rights from LA Galaxy as part of the deal.

The Brazilian superstar arrives in Miami after representing his national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“What drives me the most – and I believe this applies to every player – is the desire to win and to keep developing. The project the club presented to me, along with the effort everyone made to bring me here, means a great deal,” Casemiro said.

“I’m extremely thankful, and I can’t wait to begin so that I can repay that faith – not only during the matches, but also in every training session. All I can say is thank you, and I will give my all to return the affection and confidence the club has placed in me.”

The 34-year-old midfielder, who was a free agent, spent the past 14 years competing in Europe with Real Madrid, FC Porto, and Manchester United, after beginning his professional career at São Paulo FC in Brazil.

Across his club career, Casemiro has collected 21 trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles and three LaLiga championships with Real Madrid. He has registered 73 goals and 61 assists in 663 club appearances.

At the international level, Casemiro has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 91 appearances for Brazil. He has featured in the last three World Cups and was part of the squad that won the 2019 Copa América.

“Casemiro’s signing represents the vision and ambition that define Inter Miami,” said managing owner Jorge Mas. “We never settle. We always strive to grow, to improve, and to raise our standards with every season. Our goal has always been to build a global club that not only leads in the United States but also serves as a benchmark internationally.”

Mas continued, “Casemiro embodies everything our club stands for – leadership, a winning mentality, and a remarkable record at the highest level of football. Having achieved nearly everything there is to achieve in the sport, his decision to join Inter Miami demonstrates that he shares our ambition and our pursuit of excellence as we continue to build for the future. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Inter Miami family.”

Casemiro joins an Inter Miami midfield that already features Rodrigo De Paul, the 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina and former Atlético Madrid standout, who arrived last summer. De Paul is one of the club’s Designated Players alongside forwards Lionel Messi and Germán Berterame.

During his time at Real Madrid, Casemiro frequently faced Messi and Luis Suárez in El Clásico clashes against FC Barcelona. Those iconic matches also involved Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, two Barça greats who retired after leading Inter Miami to the 2025 MLS Cup title.

Casemiro also reunites with Sergio Reguilón, his former teammate at both Real Madrid and Manchester United. The Spanish left-back joined Inter Miami last winter as a free agent.

“I’m very proud to welcome Casemiro and his family to Inter Miami,” said co-owner David Beckham. “He is both a player and a person I have admired for many years. He is a winner who has accomplished so much in football, and after such an exceptional career with Real Madrid and Manchester United, I’m delighted he has chosen Miami as his next home.”

Following the conclusion of the World Cup break, Inter Miami currently sit second in the Eastern Conference with 31 points. Guillermo Hoyos is currently managing the squad after Javier Mascherano’s departure in mid-April.

The Herons inaugurated their new home, Nu Stadium, in early April, marking an important milestone as the club established a permanent base in Miami.
