CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Practical Exams 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the schedule for the Class 12 supplementary practical examinations for 2026. According to the Board, practical exams for all streams will be conducted from July 29 to August 4, 2026.
Students required to take this exam are advised to contact their school or designated examination center by July 27, 2026. Prior to this, the Class 12 supplementary theory examination will be held on July 28, 2026, with over 2.5 lakh students expected to appear.
Which students must take the practical exam?
This schedule applies to students categorized by the Board as 'Repeat Practical' (RP) or 'Repeat in Both Theory and Practical' (RB).
Students in the RP (Repeat Practical) category are required to take only the practical exam; their previously obtained theory marks will remain valid.
Students in the RB (Repeat in Both Theory and Practical) category must retake both the theory and practical examinations.
Separate arrangements for regular and private students
According to CBSE, regular students will take their practical exams at their own schools. In contrast, private students must appear at the supplementary examination center allotted by the Board.
If a specific laboratory (lab) required for a subject is unavailable at an examination center, the concerned regional office will make arrangements for the exam at a nearby school or examination center.
Appointment of external examiners by the Board
The Board has instructed all regional offices to appoint external examiners for the practical examinations. Schools and examination centers will no longer be able to select external examiners at their own level; they may only nominate internal examiners from among their own teaching staff.
Practical marks must be uploaded on the same day
CBSE has clarified that it is mandatory to upload practical exam marks to the Board's official website on the day of the examination itself. Once uploaded, no amendments or corrections to the marks will be accepted.
What to carry to the exam? The Board has instructed students to carry the following documents with them when appearing for the practical examination:
Admit card
A copy of the mark sheet or result
Additionally, schools have been directed to inform students about the date and time of the practical examination in a timely manner and to coordinate with regional offices to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
