Manchester United are now on the verge of finalising their next transfer-window move.

Manchester United have reached an agreement for a France international.

The Red Devils have begun their summer rebuild under new manager Michael Carrick with four new signings and a couple of unsuccessful chases, as the club gets ready for a return to the Champions League.

While Elliot Anderson and Matheus Fernandes have ended up joining rivals, Manchester United have brought in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow and Tynan Thompson — and they appear to be pushing further to add more strength to their midfield.

As per Thursday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, United have reached an agreement in principle with Manu Kone over a move to the Premier League.

FourFourTwo understands that the Roma star is also on Arsenal's radar if a move for Bruno Guimaraes does not materialise, while Kone is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League as well.

The Italian outlet has reported a fee of €60m for Kone, although that amount is expected to fall further, and Sport Witness claims that €45m plus bonuses could be enough to land the Frenchman.

The 25-year-old is currently on holiday after delivering consistent performances for France during the World Cup.

After Eduardo Camavinga was unexpectedly left out of Didier Deschamps' final tournament squad, Kone was handed a midfield role against Paraguay and Morocco in the knockout stage ahead of the likes of youngster Warren Zaire-Emery and veteran N'Golo Kante.

The central midfielder also impressed and has risen to prominence over the last year since moving to Serie A from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Having already signed two midfielders this summer in Santos and Tielemans, Carrick is said to be keen on a third, with a move for Atalanta's Ederson collapsing at the last moment.

The switch away from a back three has put more responsibility on Kobbie Mainoo's qualities in the middle of the pitch, though Casemiro's departure from the club — along with a return to European competition next season — means Carrick wants added depth across the squad.

United are also understood to be looking for full-backs, while another forward to provide cover for the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko could also be signed.

According to Transfermarkt, Kone is valued at €50m. Manchester United begin their 2026/27 Premier League season away to Hull City.
