CBSE Practical Exam Guidelines: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued detailed guidelines regarding practical examinations for students appearing in the Class 12 supplementary examination. According to the Board, the supplementary practical examination will be conducted from July 29 to August 4. This examination is exclusively for students placed in the 'Compartment' category under either 'Repeat Practical' or 'Repeat Theory and Practical Both.' Additionally, the Board has issued necessary instructions to schools, examination centers, and regional offices regarding the conduct of the exam, the appointment of examiners, and the uploading of practical marks. Students are advised to contact their respective schools or examination centers in a timely manner to obtain information about the examination schedule.

Which students must appear for the practical exam?

As per the instructions issued by CBSE, the supplementary practical examination is mandatory for students in two categories. The first category is 'Repeat Practical.' Students in this category need to appear only for the practical examination; the theory marks obtained in the main examination will remain valid, and they will not be required to retake the theory exam. The second category is 'Repeat Theory and Practical Both.' Students in this category must appear for both the theory and practical examinations during the supplementary exam period.

Where will the practical exams be held?

Practical examinations for regular students will be conducted at their respective schools. Meanwhile, private candidates must appear for practical examinations at their allotted theory examination centers. If a specific examination center lacks the necessary facilities for a particular subject's practical exam, the concerned CBSE regional office will arrange for the practical examination to be held at a nearby school or examination center.

Schools Cannot Appoint External Examiners Themselves

The Board has clarified that schools will not appoint external examiners at their own level. All external examiners will be appointed by the respective regional office; however, internal examiners will be appointed by the school or the examination center superintendent from among their own teaching staff. Additionally, CBSE has instructed all schools and examination centers to upload students' marks onto the Board's online portal on the very day the practical examination is conducted. The Board has also clarified that once marks are uploaded to the portal, they will be considered final; no requests for any subsequent amendments will be entertained.

Board's Advice to Students

The Board has advised students to contact their school or examination center by July 27. They should bring their marksheets (or result copies) and admit cards to confirm the date, time, and venue of the practical examination. Subsequently, students must report to their school or examination center at the scheduled date and time.

Instructions for Schools and Regional Offices

CBSE has directed schools to prepare a subject-wise list of eligible students, coordinate with the regional office to ensure the appointment of external examiners, and inform students about the examination schedule in a timely manner. Meanwhile, regional offices have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the timely conduct of practical examinations, appointing examiners, uploading practical marks on time, and collecting answer scripts in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
