New Delhi . The web series (Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya) released on OTT is not limited to just entertainment but also brings out those truths of the education system with which common people are often exposed. With the help of humour, satire and emotional events, this series raises many serious questions to the challenges of government schools, problems of teachers and the future of children. Director Himank Gaur has tried to present social issues in a light-hearted manner in this seven-episode series, due to which the story keeps the audience engaged instead of becoming burdensome.

The story of the series revolves around Adarsh Bal Vidyalaya, a government school in Delhi. A scheme is started by the government under which the school principal who performs best in the board exams will get an opportunity to go to Cambridge University. As soon as this news is received, the school principal Dnyaneshwar Tripathi starts trying his best to make his school the best. After this begins a journey full of conflict, humor, challenges and many emotional turns which keeps the audience engaged till the end.

KK Menon once again shows his acting ability brilliantly in the role of Principal Dnyaneshwar Tripathi. His balanced acting makes this character completely alive. Archana Puran Singh also makes an impact as a political activist and gives strength to the story with her experience. Actors like Deven Bhojani, Naveen Kasturia, Abhimanyu Singh and Prasanna Bisht also do full justice to their respective characters. The special thing is that the acting of child actors is also very natural and in many scenes they leave the same impact as experienced actors.

At the level of direction, Himank Gaur has made a very impressive debut. The first three episodes are full of humour, satire and interesting incidents which keep the audience engaged continuously. However, after this the pace of the story seems to slow down a bit. Some subplots feel like they weren’t needed and some scenes feel unnecessarily long. Despite this, the story gets back on track in the final episode and moves towards a satisfying finale, although the climax may fall short of some viewers’ expectations.

The biggest feature of this series is that it brings out the shortcomings of the education system in an entertaining manner instead of giving direct speeches. Issues like lack of resources in government schools, quality of education, expectations of parents and mental pressure on children have been presented in a concise manner. This is the reason why despite being a serious subject, the story does not seem heavy anywhere.

If you like to watch web series that give social message along with entertainment, then Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya can prove to be a good option. Some episodes in between may seem a bit slow but strong acting, effective dialogues and meaningful commentary on the education system make it worth watching. Watched with the family, this series makes one laugh, makes one think and leaves a positive message in the end.
