Ukraine Drone Strikes Russia St Petersburg Logistics Hub: The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has now reached deep inside the Russian border. On the night of Friday, July 24, 2026, Ukrainian drones attacked Russia’s largest online retailer ‘Wildberries’ Many logistics centers were targeted.
In this attack, massive fires broke out in warehouses located in Russia’s historic city of St. Petersburg and occupied Crimea. According to the report, this is the fifth time in the last one week that Ukraine has attacked this huge e-commerce network of Russia.
St. Petersburg, located about 1,100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is also the hometown of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is why air security remains strong here. However, in recent months Ukrainian drone technology has succeeded in penetrating these security barriers.
St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov confirmed that drones targeted civilian infrastructure located on Moskovskoye Highway, while the Governor of Leningrad Oblast said three people were injured in the attack in Novosyatelovka.
Media analysts estimate that the attacks on Wildberries warehouses in the past week have caused huge economic losses to Russia amounting to at least 100 billion rubles (about $1.2 billion). About 50 flights had to be grounded at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport due to the attack. The company has currently suspended operations at its main logistics centers in St. Petersburg due to security reasons.
Zelensky Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave the reasoning behind these attacks, saying that these warehouses are not being used only for civilian goods, but for the logistics supply of the Russian army.
According to Zelensky, navigation equipment, parts for making drones and other war materials are supplied to the army from these centres. Equipment such as drone components and body armor are also available for sale on WildBerries’ website.
Not only St. Petersburg, but Wildberries hubs in Crimea’s Simferopol and Russia’s Tver city were also seen engulfed in flames. Earlier on July 22 and 23, similar attacks were carried out in Voronezh, Krasnodar and Stavropol.
It is noteworthy that Tatiana Kim, the founder of Wildberries, is the richest woman in Russia and her company is facing international sanctions for helping the Russian government in the war.
