Washington [अमेरिका]July 24 (ANI): Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 57th birthday by embracing her 'single era'. During this, she also talked about heartbreak, divorce and the lessons learned from some of her most talked about relationships with Ben Affleck and Marc Anthony.
The two-time Grammy nominee turned 57 on July 24. She had already kicked off the celebrations with a 'double birthday sister trip' to Europe with her sister Linda Lopez. Linda celebrated her 55th birthday in June. Lopez also attended a dinner party in Paris, where she wore dazzling diamonds.
Speaking candidly on a chat show, Lopez said she now sees breakups as opportunities for personal growth rather than failures. E! "A breakup is not a failure," he said as quoted by the news. She added, "I really think it's a launchpad for your next better self. When we have a breakup, we should have a party. People should say, 'You're over the breakup, congratulations.' Because, one, you took a decision. Two, it was probably the best thing for everyone."
She also shared her perspective on heartbreak, saying, "If your heart is broken, you're a winner. Because if you're going around breaking people's hearts in your life... then you're a loser," as E! News told. Lopez admitted that she has experienced both sides of a breakup, but she believes that heartbreak has contributed the most to her personal growth. She explained, "I just feel like my biggest growth emotionally, mentally, psychologically has always come from heartbreak, and it's not just in romantic relationships. It's also heartbreak at work and everything else."
According to Lopez, difficult moments force introspection. He said, "This is the only time when you think deeply." She added, "You think, 'What happened? How do I do this? Why do I keep doing this? Or why didn't it happen? What could I have done better?' You change yourself completely."
The singer and actress, who has been divorced four times, opened up in May on Jimmy Kimmel Live! But he also said that he wished he had adopted being single long ago. He admitted, "I should have done it earlier." She added, "I was doing everything wrong," as E! News told.
Lopez's most recent marriage ended in 2024, when she and Ben Affleck separated after two years of marriage. Reflecting on this chapter while promoting 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' on CBS Sunday Morning last September, she said the experience ultimately helped her grow. He acted in this film and Affleck produced it. "You get over it," Lopez said. He added, "And honestly, it was the best thing that happened to me." She said the breakup "helped me grow in the way I needed to grow, and become more self-aware. I'm a different person now than I was last year, a year and a half ago," as E! News told.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled their early 2000s romance in 2021 after she ended her engagement to former baseball player Alex Rodriguez. However, on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2025, she made it clear that she no longer wanted to discuss her personal relationship publicly. He said, "You know, I don't really have anything to say about my personal life anymore." He further said, "I feel that this chapter of mine is complete."
Before Rodriguez, Lopez was in an on-and-off relationship with dancer Caspar Smart. Speaking to People in 2013, he said, "The truth is, we don't know what's going to happen. We're living in the moment. We keep each other happy." At the time, she also said that Smart had "helped her heal" after the breakdown of her marriage to singer Marc Anthony.
Lopez and Anthony married in 2004 and welcomed twins Max and Emme in 2008, before splitting in 2011. Their divorce became final in 2014, but Lopez has spoken about working to maintain a positive relationship for the sake of their children. He said in an interview in 2016, "When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness." She added, "Mark is the father of my children and that will never change. So, I have to work to make things right. And this is, by far, the hardest thing I've ever done," as E! News told.
Recently, Lopez shared that both of her children, Max and Emme, have won college scholarships and been accepted into their chosen universities. He said in an interview, "Both of my children got admission in all their colleges and both got scholarships and they are going where they want to go." He added, "I told him, 'You did it all by yourself. You got very little help'."
Before marrying Anthony, Lopez was married to Ojani Noah and Chris Judd and also briefly dated Sean "Diddy" Combs. In his 2019 'It's My Party Tour Diary' series, he downplayed the importance of his first two marriages. He said, "One lasted nine months and the other 11 months." He added, "So, I don't really count them." Reflecting on those early relationships, Lopez said, "The first two times I tried to get married, I was very young. I would say tried to get married." E! According to the news, he also told that his initial desire to get married was rooted in his desire for companionship. "It seems like in this life you're always surrounded by people, you're never alone, but it's very lonely," he said. She added, "And so, you always want someone with you, someone. So I thought if I get married, I will always have someone with me. But life doesn't work like that." (ANI)
