Manchester United have reportedly got a big lift in their chase for Aurelien Tchouameni after Real Madrid eased their position on the midfielder’s future. The French international could now turn out to be the final piece of the Red Devils’ midfield rebuild if a £68 million deal can be struck.

Real Madrid rethink stance

United have reportedly been given fresh hope in their pursuit of Tchouameni after Madrid decided they are ready to sell the midfielder this summer, according to The Sun. The France international had earlier been seen as not for sale, but the Spanish giants are now prepared to hear offers as they aim to raise money for a possible move for Manchester City’s Rodri.

Rodri pursuit changes plans

As per the report, new Madrid boss Jose Mourinho had wanted to keep Tchouameni, but the club’s transfer priorities have now changed after the possibility of signing Rodri emerged. A fee of around £68 million is said to be enough to get a move over the line, handing the Red Devils renewed optimism of signing one of their top midfield targets.

United strengthens midfield

United have already added to their midfield by bringing in Youri Tielemans for £35 million and Andrey Santos for £50 million after Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s serious injury. Tchouameni is viewed as an ideal signing to make their midfield more robust. Madrid originally brought him in to replace Casemiro in 2022, and United are now hoping to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford as the Brazilian’s long-term successor.
