Juventus make first approach for former Manchester City defender John Stones

Serie A club Juventus have already completed a free transfer with the signing of Zeki Celik, but they are not ready to stop there, with interest now building around John Stones.

The centre-back featured for England at the World Cup and, somewhat unexpectedly, did very well when called upon by Thomas Tuchel.

Gianluca Di Marzio has now reported that Stones has drawn attention from Juve, who believe he would be the ideal addition to strengthen their defence.

They have made initial contact with his entourage to assess the possible feasibility of the move and, if possible, to also move ahead of the competition for his signature. Inter Milan have been interested, and clubs in England have also been linked with the defender. However, none of them have made a move so far.

Later in the transfer window, the Juve defence could require changes, as the futures of Bremer and Lloyd Kelly remain uncertain. Stones would be the perfect option, as he would bring experience, title-winning pedigree and ball-playing quality that is probably better than the duo.
