The performance of the Indian team in the three-match ODI series on the England tour was quite disappointing. Team India lost this series 2-1. Now India’s next ODI series is to be against West Indies, for which the Caribbean team will tour India in the last week of September. A total of three ODI matches will be played in this series. Although, there is still time for this series but discussions have started regarding it. There are reports that 8 big players of Team India including Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer will not be a part of this series. It is being told that BCCI has a big plan behind this.

The three-match ODI series between India and West Indies will start from September 27. After this, the second match will be played on 30 September, while the third and last ODI will be played on 3 October. After the end of the ODI series, both the teams will face each other in the five-match T20 series.

What is BCCI’s plan?

As soon as the ODI series between India and West Indies starts, the cricket tournament of the Asian Games 2026 will also start. Men’s T20 matches in the Asian Games will be played from September 24 to October 1 in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan. In such a situation, BCCI has had to prepare for two different Indian teams simultaneously. Let us tell you that the Board had announced the team for the Asian Games 2026 on June 6 itself, but Team India’s squad for the ODI series against West Indies has not been announced yet.

Which 8 players will not get a place in Team India?

Due to the Indian T20 team selected for the Asian Games 2026, eight players of Team India will not be able to play in the ODI series against West Indies. These include Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
