Heavy rains have severely disrupted normal life across South Gujarat, with Valsad, Vapi, Umargam, and nearby areas witnessing extensive flooding. Several residential localities were submerged, prompting large-scale evacuation efforts by emergency response teams.

Harsh Sanghavi Applauds Gujarat Police's BraveryDeputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi shared a video on social media highlighting the rescue operations carried out by the Gujarat Police in Valsad. He commended Police Inspector (PI) Gohil and his team for displaying exceptional courage while evacuating residents, rescuing children, and ensuring the safety of entire communities.
In his post, Sanghavi wrote that the Gujarat Police performed an extraordinary job during the floods, adding that "no uniform can measure such courage." He thanked PI Gohil and the entire police team for serving as a shield for the people during the disaster.
As the flood situation remained critical, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel convened a high-level review meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar to assess the ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Dr. Jayanti Ravi, Relief Commissioner Gaurav Makwana, and other senior officials. With rainfall easing in South Gujarat, the government's focus has now shifted from emergency rescues to rehabilitation, restoration, and assessment of flood-related damage. Financial Assistance Begins for Affected FamiliesOfficials informed the Chief Minister that the process of providing immediate cash assistance to affected families has begun. Compensation for damage to household belongings will also be disbursed in the coming days.
The government also reported that 308 livestock deaths have been recorded across Gujarat due to the recent floods and heavy rainfall. Authorities continue to provide shelter, food, medical aid, and other essential services at relief camps for thousands of displaced residents.
