Manchester United’s interest in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye has become more complicated after Al-Hilal joined the chase. United have been tracking the Senegal international as a possible option on the left, but their scope to move has been limited by the uncertainty over Marcus Rashford’s future.

That pause could now prove expensive. Al-Hilal have the financial muscle to move fast and are searching for another big attacking signing.

Ndiaye’s versatility, direct running and Premier League experience make him an appealing target, while Everton see him as a key player and are unlikely to be keen on selling.

Talks are still at a very early stage, but the Saudi move is a real setback for United.

According to Fabrizio Romano on X, Al-Hilal have started discussions to sign Ndiaye from Everton.

The conversation remains in its early phase, but the Saudi club have put the 26-year-old high on their shortlist and his camp are open to initial talks.

Everton will have the final say on whether the move can go ahead. Ndiaye is still under contract and is viewed as a central part of their plans, which means Al-Hilal may have to put forward a sizeable offer before formal negotiations can progress.

The key difference is that Al-Hilal seem ready to act immediately. United have admired the player, but their interest has not yet turned into an official bid.

TEAMtalk reported that United value Ndiaye but have not moved forward because Rashford is still at the club.

The Red Devils are unlikely to bring in another high-profile left winger unless there is room created in both the squad and the wage structure.

That careful approach makes financial sense, but it also leaves United exposed. Al-Hilal can offer Everton a major fee and could also hand Ndiaye a lucrative contract before United sort out their own internal situation.

This is a clear warning for United. Ndiaye would add energy, ball-carrying ability and tactical flexibility to Michael Carrick’s attack, but admiration will not count for much without firm action.

United need to quickly settle Rashford’s situation and decide whether Ndiaye is truly a priority.

Otherwise, Al-Hilal could take one of their preferred attacking targets off the market before the officials at Old Trafford are ready to make a move.
