The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Team India's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, with a few notable changes. Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the first Test, while Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain has received his maiden Test call-up.

The squad also marks the return of experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was rested for India's one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Washington Sundar will miss the opening Test of the series, creating an opportunity for a new face in the squad. The BCCI has not yet announced whether he will be available for the second Test.

One of the biggest talking points is the inclusion of Saransh Jain, who has been rewarded for his consistent performances in domestic cricket.

The all-rounder is:

• A left-handed batter

• A right-arm off-spinner

In 54 first-class matches, he has registered:

• More than 2,200 runs

• 188 wickets

His selection adds another spin-bowling all-round option to India's squad.

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is back in the Test squad after missing the Afghanistan Test.

Meanwhile, Manav Suthar, who impressed on his Test debut against Afghanistan, has retained his place for the Sri Lanka tour.

Fast bowler Gurnur Brar, who was selected previously but did not make his Test debut, has also been included once again and could earn his first Test cap during the series.

India will play two Tests during the tour:

• First Test: August 15 – Galle

• Second Test: August 23 – Colombo

Before the series begins, the Indian team is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka on August 4 and will play a four-day warm-up match in Colombo starting August 7.
