Hyderabad, July 29 - A trainee IPS officer has been apprehended for allegedly sexually harassing a female co-trainee at the police training academy in Hyderabad. The accused, M Uday Krishna Reddy, aged 33 and hailing from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, was arrested and presented in court. A case was filed against Reddy on July 18 for allegedly stalking and sexually harassing the female trainee IPS officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).

According to a statement from the Hyderabad police, the accused has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Police had interrogated him on Tuesday regarding the allegations. Reddy previously served as a police constable and later became an IPS officer in 2025 after passing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.

He had been undergoing training at SVPNPA since December 2025. The accused reportedly met the victim, a female IPS trainee, through social media at the end of 2025. Following the filing of the complaint, Reddy claimed in a social media post that the allegations and rumors were 'baseless.'

The 30-year-old female trainee IPS officer lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that her fellow trainee had been sending her inappropriate messages via an instant messaging app since June 23, and making offensive remarks in front of her friends at the academy. The complainant accused the accused of falsely alleging that she had an intimate relationship with another trainee, pressuring her to admit to this alleged relationship, and using derogatory language towards her. She further alleged that on July 9, the accused forcibly restrained her, dragged her into his room, attempted to strangle her, and held a knife to her neck to prevent her from leaving.

Additionally, she accused him of recording a private video of her without her knowledge or consent and intending to blackmail her by sending it to her husband. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case on Saturday at the Attapur police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
