Odisha CM Praises Rescue Teams Amid Flood Crisis

On Thursday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi expressed his appreciation for the disaster response teams that successfully rescued a pregnant woman from the flood-affected areas of Balasore district. He emphasized the state government's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of every citizen and the provision of essential services during this crisis. Monitoring the flood situation from Delhi, Majhi shared on social media, 'Your safety and service are our top priorities.'


Successful Evacuation of Pregnant Woman

Amidst the severe flooding, a pregnant woman from the village of Bhagirathipur in Balasore was safely evacuated and transported to a hospital in time. The government remains dedicated to preserving lives and providing basic necessities during this challenging period. According to state officials, the floods have resulted in three fatalities so far, while many others have been rescued from precarious situations.


Rescue of Stranded Individuals

In another incident, authorities reported that 27 individuals stranded near the Birighat River in the Boden block of Nuapada district were successfully brought to safety by personnel from the Khariar Fire Station through a coordinated rescue operation. The group included 20 men, four women, and three children. Initially, reports indicated that only eight individuals were trapped, but rescue teams continued their search and managed to evacuate all 27 safely.


Preventing a Major Disaster

Thanks to the swift response and effective coordination of the rescue efforts, a significant disaster was averted. Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, the Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha, stated that a total of 123 relief and rescue teams have been deployed in sensitive areas at both national and state levels. This includes six teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 14 from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), and approximately 103 fire service teams.
