In Gorakhpur, a police constable has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 10-year-old girl. On Thursday, he was brought to the district hospital for a medical examination, where he reportedly faced physical assault from doctors and hospital staff. The accused, Abhishek Yadav, aged 35, was stationed at Dial 112 in Gorakhpur and is alleged to have abducted and killed the girl on July 29.

According to sources, the police transported Yadav to the hospital in the afternoon. Upon his arrival, angry hospital staff pursued him and assaulted him, prompting police officers to intervene and escort him out safely.

The girl had gone to the district hospital to deliver food to her older sister, who was receiving treatment. CCTV footage reportedly shows constable Abhishek Yadav, in uniform, approaching the girl outside the hospital, conversing with her, and then taking her away on his motorcycle. Allegedly, he lured the girl under the pretense of taking her home and transported her approximately 15 kilometers to a cremation ground.

Authorities suspect that the girl may have been sexually assaulted before her murder. Following the accused's indication, her body was discovered in a river on Thursday morning. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kaustubh stated that over 200 CCTV clips were reviewed during the investigation.

During questioning, constable Yadav reportedly confessed to his crime. The police have recommended his dismissal from service and indicated that actions under the National Security Act (NSA) will also be initiated against him. SSP Kaustubh noted that Yadav had previously been suspended for a harassment case involving a woman from West Bengal and had been incarcerated, but he was reinstated later that same year.
