Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa is reportedly set to add two familiar names to his attacking options through a double transfer move involving Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.

Former Real Madrid player and coach Arbeloa, who worked with several of the club’s youth sides, is believed to be the key figure behind Fulham’s move to replace attacking midfielder Harry Wilson and striker Raul Jimenez.

The Cottagers are said to be nearing deals for Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios in an agreement worth around £43 million in total, with the larger share of that fee relating to 22-year-old Garcia. Both players are also expected to be tied to a 30 percent sell-on clause.

“All being well, the pair will follow head coach Alvaro Arbeloa to Craven Cottage from the Spanish capital,” The Athletic reported.

“Garcia and Palacios are set to become the first new arrivals of the summer, following Swedish forward Jonah Kusi-Asare, who joined on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich after spending the 2025-26 season on loan at Craven Cottage.

“Sources with knowledge of the situation indicated Madrid had decided months ago that Garcia would leave this summer – but the process was put on hold after [Jose] Mourinho’s arrival, as the new head coach wanted to see the striker in pre-season.

“The Portuguese liked the player but was not able to guarantee a prominent role in the team next season as it stands, leaving the choice on his future up to Garcia.”

Garcia received his first senior Spain cap in the national side’s World Cup warm-up game against Iraq in June and has steadily begun to make his mark at the Bernabeu. He had been a regular scorer for Real Madrid B and leaves the club having scored 13 goals for the first team.

He featured 39 times in all competitions last season and scored eight goals. The young forward started two Champions League matches and nine La Liga games, but with Kylian Mbappe ahead of him, his chances of regular football were limited.

Palacios, who is valued at less than £10 million in the reported deal, has been with Real Madrid since 2020 and spent most of last season playing for the B team. He appeared in seven senior matches for Real Madrid in 2025-26, with every one of those outings coming under Arbeloa.

Fulham’s first incoming signings suggest progress in what has otherwise been a challenging summer.

The club’s Premier League place had looked secure since Marco Silva took charge, but the chance to join Benfica proved too strong for the Lisbon-born manager to turn down, and he replaced Mourinho at the Estadio da Luz in June.

Jimenez went back to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Harry Wilson moved to Leeds United, with both departures completed on free transfers. Defender Issa Diop also left, joining Ipswich Town for a reported fee of about £8.5 million.

Fulham begin their Premier League season with a Monday night home match against revamped local rivals Chelsea on August 24.
