New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial Ramayana, has drawn praise from Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga after the film’s trailer offered audiences their first detailed glimpse of the epic adaptation.

Vanga expressed his admiration for the trailer on social media, signalling his support for Ranbir’s portrayal of Lord Ram. Sharing the film’s trailer on X, the filmmaker wrote, “YEH RAM YUG KA AARAMBH HAI. Not just a trailer, but the eternal reminder that DHARMA will always triumph over ADHARMA.”

On Instagram, he posted an image of Ranbir holding a bow and arrow from the trailer without adding a caption. Fans soon filled the comments section, praising the actor’s appearance and predicting a massive box-office run for the film.

The trailer traces Lord Ram’s journey from the prince of Ayodhya to his years in exile after Queen Kaikeyi’s demand changes the course of his life. It also highlights his bond with Sita, played by Sai Pallavi, and Lakshman, portrayed by Ravie Dubey, while offering a striking first look at Yash as Ravana.

Apart from its star cast, Ramayana has generated buzz for bringing together AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, who have collaborated on the film’s music. The project’s visual effects are being handled by DNEG, while T-Series recently acquired the music rights for both instalments in a reported Rs 75 crore deal with Prime Focus Studios.

Ahead of the trailer launch, Ranbir had spoken about the responsibility of playing Lord Ram during the film’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. The actor admitted he was initially filled with fear and self-doubt before accepting the role, but said those emotions gradually turned into gratitude.

He described portraying Lord Ram as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a moral responsibility, calling the character a timeless symbol of courage, compassion, forgiveness and righteousness.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic saga. Besides Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor. The first instalment is scheduled to arrive in theatres this November.
