WhatsApp announced several new audio and video calling features on Tuesday. Additionally, 'QuickHD' is claimed to improve video quality during the initial seconds of a call.

**WhatsApp's New Features**
In a blog post, WhatsApp announced that its web version now supports audio and video calling, including both one-on-one and group conversations. Calls made via WhatsApp Web are claimed to be end-to-end encrypted, free of time limits, and available at no additional cost.

Web users also gain access to features previously available on other versions of WhatsApp, such as screen sharing and reactions during calls. WhatsApp Web now includes a dedicated 'Calls' tab, providing access to the user's call history and favorites.

According to WhatsApp, a notable new feature is 'Call Transfer.' As the name suggests, this feature allows users to move an ongoing group call from one device to another without disconnecting. For instance, a call started on a smartphone or tablet while commuting can be transferred to WhatsApp Web or the desktop app upon arriving home. Similarly, if users need to step away from their computer, they can move the conversation back to their mobile device.

WhatsApp is also introducing a 'waiting room' feature for group calls. When creating a WhatsApp call link, users can enable the 'Require approval to join' option. Participants who open the link will be placed in a virtual waiting room until the person managing the call grants them permission to enter.

Meanwhile, QuickHD aims to enhance video quality right from the start of the call. Instead of gradually improving quality after the connection is established, it delivers HD video within the first few seconds. It also includes a 'noise suppression' feature that filters out background noise, ensuring the user's voice remains clear even in noisy environments.

WhatsApp states that these new calling features are being rolled out gradually and will soon be available to all users.
