Liverpool are not prepared to let Cody Gakpo leave, despite interest from Tottenham, according to The Evening Standard.

For the Reds, the priority at present is to strengthen their attacking options rather than weaken them ahead of the new season.

Liverpool are looking into a move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, but with PSG valuing the French wide player at a huge £145 million, any deal is far from straightforward.

Until Liverpool are able to bring in elite attacking reinforcements, they are not willing to even consider discussions over Gakpo.

In addition, taking the 27-year-old away from Anfield would be financially difficult for any interested club. Gakpo still has four years left on his contract, which leaves Liverpool in a strong bargaining position if their stance is challenged.

Tottenham are keen to add more attacking threat to their squad. Even after spending £237 million on six new signings this summer, De Zerbi has made it clear that Tottenham’s transfer activity is still not finished.

Despite a fairly disappointing season last time out, when he scored fewer than 10 goals in all competitions for the first time since 2020/21, Gakpo has been identified by Spurs as a leading option for the left wing, although he is also capable of playing as a striker.

The Dutch forward is currently alongside fellow Dutchman Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre in Kirkby as the Reds continue their pre-season tour of the United States.
