Reality shows are dominating television and OTT platforms, with several new seasons and formats lined up. From The Alliance, hosted by Kunal Khemu, and Lock Upp 2, hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan, to The Traitors 2 with Karan Johar, Playground Season 5 featuring Tejasswi Prakash as a panellist, and the upcoming season of Splitsvilla, audiences are spoilt for choice.
However, amid the growing pool of reality shows, Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss continues to remain the original and one of the biggest reality franchises. The show is now gearing up for its landmark 20th season, which is set to premiere next month. On Tuesday, the makers dropped the first teaser of Bigg Boss 20, leaving fans intrigued.
The promo has sparked speculation among fans, with many believing that Shah Rukh Khan could join Salman Khan as a co-host this season. The teaser references the iconic 1995 film Karan Arjun, which starred Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan together, prompting netizens to wonder whether the superstar duo could reunite on television.
Sharing the teaser on social media, the makers wrote, “Ek se bhale do.. #BiggBoss starts 6th September on #JioHotstar and @colorstv.”
The teaser features Salman Khan making a grand entry wearing a cowboy hat and leather jacket while holding a majestic horse. He then says, “Jo Karan Arjun mein hua tha, woh hoga ab Bigg Boss mein… Thathastu!”
Speaking about the new season, Salman Khan said in a statement, “Every season of Bigg Boss brings a fresh game, new dynamics and unexpected twists. But this season, there’s a mystery at the heart of it that makes it unlike anything we’ve seen before. The first hint is already out there, you just have to look at it twice. The teaser is just the beginning, and I can’t wait for audiences to start piecing the clues together when Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20 begins.”
The teaser also hints at this season’s theme, which appears to draw inspiration from the iconic Karan Arjun concept, although the makers have not officially revealed the format.
According to reports, Bigg Boss 20 will also feature a completely redesigned house. Celebrity production designer Omung Kumar and his wife Vanita Garud Kumar, who have designed the iconic Bigg Boss house for several seasons, are reportedly not associated with the project this year. Instead, art directors Kanchan and Rupali, who previously worked on the reality show The 50, have been entrusted with designing the new house.
Meanwhile, the rumoured contestant list includes Mahhi Vij, Geeta Basra, Jannat Zubair, Faisal Shaikh (Mr Faisu), Sunil Pal, Nia Sharma, Pearl V Puri and Showik Chakraborty.
Bigg Boss 20 will premiere on September 6, 2026, on Colors TV and JioHotstar.

Salman is expected to complete a significant portion of his upcoming action thriller directed by Vamsi Paidipally before beginning work on the reality show. The film also stars Nayanthara.
He is also awaiting the release of Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and co-starring Chitrangda Singh. In the film, Salman essays the role of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. The makers are yet to announce the film’s release date.
