Manchester City are considering a summer move for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto as a like-for-like replacement for Savinho. The Brazilian attacker is said to be keen on a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur after an underwhelming season in which he received limited minutes at the Etihad Stadium. At the same time, Neto could find himself pushed out of Stamford Bridge after slipping down the pecking order under Xabi Alonso.

Manchester City have Neto in mind as Savinho's replacement

According to talkSPORT, Manchester City have made Neto their leading target to strengthen their attacking department if Savinho leaves. Savinho has found it difficult to nail down regular playing time since joining the club at the Etihad Stadium and is now being strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have been tracking Savinho over the last 12 months and regard him as a priority target, although they are also monitoring Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo.

With Savinho appearing close to an exit, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca wants to link up again with Neto, having previously worked with the Portugal winger during their spell together at Chelsea.

Neto's Chelsea future remains unclear under Alonso

Neto has delivered steady performances since his £54 million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024, starting 54 league matches and contributing to 21 goals, including nine scored himself.

Even so, his long-term future in west London looks increasingly uncertain before the new campaign begins. New Chelsea boss Alonso may find it difficult to guarantee Neto enough minutes after the club failed to qualify for European football.

In addition, Chelsea have spent heavily on their squad, most notably with the £117m signing of Morgan Rogers. Rogers' arrival could leave Neto with only a limited role, which may push the 26-year-old towards an exit as he looks for regular first-team action elsewhere.

Race intensifies for the Portugal winger

Manchester City are not the only side showing serious interest in Neto this summer. Liverpool have also identified the winger as a major option to replace Mohamed Salah, who stated earlier this year that he will leave Anfield at the end of the season. Liverpool are still yet to bring in a new right winger and see Neto as an excellent fit.

Serie A club AC Milan are also keeping a close watch on developments. Ruben Amorim recently became AC Milan manager after Max Allegri left following the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League. Amorim is reportedly keen to bring his fellow Portuguese player to Italy, creating further competition for Manchester City.

What next for Neto and Savinho?

Manchester City must first complete Savinho's departure before making an official move for Neto. Tottenham are expected to step up talks to sign Savinho in the coming weeks. Once that deal is done, Manchester City are likely to test Chelsea with an opening offer for Neto, although they will need to move quickly if they are to beat Liverpool and AC Milan to the winger's signature.
