Rajasthan News: The Rajasthan government has taken a major decision to strengthen healthcare services in the state's government medical colleges and their affiliated hospitals. The Department of Medical Education has approved the recruitment process for 3,318 posts across 19 medical colleges operating under RajMES. This decision is expected to bring significant relief to government hospitals that have long been grappling with a shortage of doctors, nursing personnel, and technical staff. It is anticipated that the appointment of adequate staff will facilitate the provision of better, high-quality, and timely treatment to patients, while also enhancing the operational efficiency of the hospitals.

A key highlight of this recruitment drive is the approval of 2,577 posts for Nursing Officers, constituting the largest share of the total recruitment. Additionally, recruitment will be conducted for various paramedical roles, including Lab Technicians, Pharmacists, Assistant Radiographers, OT Technicians, and Dialysis Technicians. To further bolster specialized healthcare services, critical roles such as Counselors, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, ECG Technicians, and Ophthalmic Technicians have also been included. These appointments are expected to improve the quality of healthcare services, reduce the workload, and ensure more effective and timely treatment for patients in government medical colleges and affiliated hospitals.

The recruitment process will be carried out under two distinct arrangements. Of the total, 3,090 posts will be filled on a contractual basis under the 'Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Post Rules-2022', while 228 posts will be filled through outsourcing or on a job basis. The outsourced category includes roles such as 'Machine with Man' and Ward Attendants. This arrangement will also strengthen support services within the hospitals, enabling the delivery of regular healthcare services in a smoother and more organized manner.

The recruitment process will be conducted under two separate arrangements. Jhunjhunu Medical College has been allocated 130 posts, Nagaur Medical College 116 posts, and Alwar Medical College 115 posts. Additionally, posts have been sanctioned for medical colleges in Sri Ganganagar, Chittorgarh, Karauli, Sirohi, Hanumangarh, Sawai Madhopur, Bundi, Baran, Banswara, Dungarpur, Dausa, and Bhilwara according to their needs. The Department of Medical Education has devised a plan to provide category-wise staff to all medical colleges, ensuring that no single institution faces an excessive workload and that healthcare services across the state operate in a balanced and effective manner.

It is noteworthy that a long-standing shortage of nursing and technical staff in government medical colleges and affiliated hospitals has been one of the major challenges facing healthcare services. Often, despite the availability of a sufficient number of doctors, patients could not receive timely tests, treatment, or essential care due to the lack of nursing and technical personnel. Following this new recruitment, operations in areas such as operation theatres, laboratories, dialysis units, radiology departments, and wards are expected to run more smoothly. This will reduce patient waiting times, improve the quality of healthcare services, and enhance the overall operational efficiency of the hospitals.

Patients are expected to benefit the most from these new recruitments. In hospital and medical college OPDs, patients will face shorter wait times in long queues and will be able to receive medical consultations quickly after registration. Furthermore, doctors and healthcare workers will be assigned rotational duties in emergency wards, ensuring that critically ill patients arriving at night receive timely and superior primary treatment. The availability of an adequate number of doctors, as well as nursing and technical staff, in hospitals will improve the quality of treatment services. This will also significantly reduce the need for patients and their families to travel to Jaipur, Sikar, or other major cities for medical treatment.
