Mumbai University senate members have urged the Maharashtra government to defer three-year and five-year law admissions, alleging several colleges, including Mumbai’s Government Law College, have been excluded from the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) over incomplete documentation. They sought inclusion of all eligible colleges before admissions begin.

Mumbai: Mumbai University senate members have urged the Maharashtra government to defer the ongoing admission process for three-year and five-year law courses, alleging that several prominent law colleges have been left out of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) due to incomplete documentation.

Acting on complaints received from the students, senate member Pradeep Sawant and former senate member Rajan Kolambekar have submitted a representation via email to Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil.

According to the representation, the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has commenced admissions for law programmes, but only 93 of the 218 colleges offering the three-year LL.B. course and 56 of the 161 colleges offering the five-year integrated law programme have been included in the admission process.

The leaders claimed that several reputed institutions, including the Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai, are missing from the list. They questioned how even a government-run institution could fail to complete the required formalities before the admission process began.
