NEET UG Counselling: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has commenced choice filling for Round 1 of NEET UG counselling for All India Quota seats. While the registration process began on August 5, candidates have been able to select their preferred medical colleges and courses—and arrange them in order of priority—since August 7. Additionally, the MCC has launched a ‘reset registration’ facility to rectify any mistakes made during registration. Counselling is currently underway at different stages across various states; in some, the application process is ongoing, while in others, preparations regarding merit lists and subsequent stages are in progress.

Opportunity to correct registration errors

The MCC has also provided a ‘reset registration’ option for Round 1. Candidates who inadvertently entered incorrect information or selected the wrong option during registration can use this facility to amend their details. This facility will remain available until 11:00 AM on August 12, 2026. Candidates must review their registration details and make necessary corrections within the stipulated timeframe.

Counselling proceeding at different stages across states

State-level NEET UG counselling is a separate process from the All India Quota counselling. States have their own schedules for registration, merit lists, choice filling, and seat allotment. Currently, the process is at various stages in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab.

Process for submitting NEET scores in Kerala

In Kerala, the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations is seeking NEET UG 2026 result details from candidates who applied for medical and medical-allied courses under KEAM 2026. The choice-filling or seat allotment phase for MBBS and BDS Round-1 has not yet commenced in the state. The state merit and allotment process will proceed after the submission of NEET scores and the completion of application verification.

Applications Open Until August 12 in Andhra Pradesh

In Andhra Pradesh, Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences has initiated online applications for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session. This process is being conducted under the Competent Authority Quota. The deadline for applications is August 12 at 9:00 PM. Subsequently, the state merit list will be prepared based on NEET UG 2026 ranks and eligibility criteria, following the verification of certificates and any objections raised by candidates. Dates for choice-filling and Round-1 seat allotment have not yet been announced.

Registration Open Until August 12 in Telangana

In Telangana, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences has started registration for MBBS and BDS admissions. The university has also released a list of candidates eligible at the state level based on NEET UG 2026 results. The registration deadline is August 12 at 6:00 PM. Following this, the state merit list will be prepared, and the processes for web options and seat allotment will proceed in accordance with the university’s notifications.

Counseling Progresses in Karnataka

In Karnataka, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has already advanced the UG NEET 2026 counseling process. Counseling for medical and dental admissions is currently underway in the state. Candidates should refer to the KEA’s UG NEET 2026 schedule for details regarding document verification, choice entry, and the subsequent seat allotment process. In other words, compared to these other states, Karnataka has reached a more advanced stage of the counseling process. Application process completed in Tamil Nadu

The application phase for MBBS and BDS admissions in Tamil Nadu has concluded. Currently, the Medical Selection Committee is reviewing matters related to eligibility and grievances submitted by candidates. A facility has been provided on the official portal for candidates found ineligible under the government and management quotas to lodge grievances. Additionally, a facility for PwD candidates to upload their certificates has also been made available. The schedule for Round 1 choice filling and seat allotment in the state has not yet been released.

Admission portal active in Punjab

In Punjab, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences has activated the portal for MBBS and BDS admissions based on NEET UG 2026. The process in the state is currently in the application phase. However, the complete schedule for Round 1 choice filling and seat allotment has not yet been announced.
