In view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027, the strategy of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is currently the biggest topic of discussion in political circles. Interestingly, while on one hand BSP supremo Mayawati has been maintaining a very soft attitude towards BJP since 2014, on the other hand her nephew and party's national coordinator Akash Anand is showing a completely aggressive attitude towards BJP and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In his very first public meeting for the upcoming 2027 elections, Akash Anand directly put BJP and CM Yogi Adityanath in the dock from the stage. While demanding an account of the last 10 years from Chief Minister Yogi, he spent almost 80 percent of his speech in verbally attacking the BJP government.
Starting the speech, he strongly raised the issue of Rs 7,000 crore spent by the Yogi government on advertisements and publicity. Akash alleged that the Yogi government presents itself as a 'bulldozer and encounter government', but due to no concrete work on the ground, they have to spend crores of rupees of public tax just on publicity.
Akash Anand also made a strong attack on 'Law and Order', which is considered to be the strongest aspect of the Yogi government and alleged that the government is running its rule in the state through the police.
Apart from this, in every public meeting, CM Yogi mentions the excellent expressway and road network built in the state. Countering this, Akash listed the names of projects like Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, Ganga Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway and claimed that due to rains a few days after their inauguration, huge potholes appeared in them. In comparison, he gave the example of Noida-Agra Expressway built during the tenure of Mayawati government, which is still standing strong even after years. In this way Akash selectively raised questions on the policies of the double engine government.
In contrast, Mayawati has rarely made direct sharp attacks on the BJP since Narendra Modi's government came to power at the Center in 2014. Recently, when Akash Anand was spitting fire on BJP and Yogi in Hathras, at the same time a post was shared from Mayawati's official social media handle regarding jobs and employment of youth, but in that post too he did not even once take the name of BJP or CM Yogi.
Let us tell you that even during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Akash Anand had made sharp attacks on PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi in the same aggressive manner. Then, in the midst of the elections, Mayawati removed him from all party posts and called him 'Aripakka' (unintelligent). After a long gap of about a year, he has returned to the party and has been given the command of the 2027 UP Assembly elections.
However, looking at the first public meeting in Hathras, it does not seem at all that he has softened his speech style. While Mayawati is usually soft on BJP and is more attacking on Samajwadi Party and Congress, Akash in his speech used very limited and restrained words on SP-Congress and sarcastically addressed Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi as 'Uncle'. Now a big question is being raised in the political circles that if Akash Anand continues attacking BJP like this, will Mayawati once again pull his reins?
