Sports Desk: Australia's T20 captain Mitchell Marsh created a new history in T20 cricket on 10 August. While playing against Welsh Fire for Sunrisers Leeds in The Hundred, Marsh made a record in his name which no Australian batsman before him could achieve.
Marsh has now become the first Australian batsman to score 1500 or more T20 runs in a calendar year.
In the match played at Headingley, Leeds, Mitchell Marsh played an inning of 50 runs in 34 balls. With this half-century, his T20 run figure reached 1502 runs in 2026.
The special thing is that Marsh achieved this feat in just 35 matches.
Earlier, the record of Australian batsman scoring most T20 runs in a calendar year was in the name of Tim David. David scored 1461 runs in 73 T20 matches in 2022, representing seven different teams.
