Mumbai: A brand-new Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus was allegedly stolen from the Jamner depot in Jalgaon district at around 2:30 am on Sunday.
The bus was driven towards Shahapur village, around 12 km from Jamner.
However, its front tyre reportedly got punctured near the Khadi river bridge, forcing the suspected thief to abandon the vehicle and flee.
Residents later spotted the unattended bus and informed the authorities
The depot administration has filed a complaint with Jamner police against an unidentified person.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the depot to determine how the bus was taken out and identify the suspect.
The unusual theft has also raised questions about security arrangements at the transport depot, with authorities investigating how the bus was driven away without being stopped.
