Several misconceptions are circulating about the Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Some people believe that a KCC can only be obtained from government banks, while others think that farmers who do not own land cannot avail of its benefits. However, these notions are not entirely accurate. Information shared by 'Agriculture India' on social media highlights several such myths regarding the KCC and reveals the actual facts. Let us look at the key myths associated with the Kisan Credit Card and the reality behind them.

Myth: KCC cards are available only from government banks.
Reality: It is a common misconception among farmers that a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) can only be obtained from government or cooperative banks. In reality, a KCC can also be obtained from nationalized banks, Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), and certain private banks.

Consequently, farmers do not need to rely solely on government banks. They can visit eligible banks at their convenience to gather information about the KCC and apply for it.

Myth: Land ownership is mandatory for a Kisan Credit Card.
Reality: This is a major misconception prevalent not only among farmers but also among the general public. 'Agriculture India' has clarified that owning land is not a prerequisite for obtaining a Kisan Credit Card (KCC).

Tenant farmers and sharecroppers can also avail the benefits of this scheme, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. In other words, even if you do not own any land, you can fully benefit from this scheme by cultivating leased or rented land.
