AS Monaco are preparing to terminate the contract of Paul Pogba, according to a report from Nice-Matin that has since been backed up by several other outlets.

The French publication says the club told Pogba a few weeks ago that they wanted to bring their professional agreement to an early close. It is also being reported that Monaco will seek a financial settlement with the midfielder and clear any wages still owed to him.

It was only last summer that the 2018 World Cup winner signed for the Monégasque club on a free transfer after the end of his doping ban. Pogba found it difficult to regain full fitness in his first season back in professional football since 2023. He managed just six appearances, adding up to a total of 105 minutes on the pitch.

Earlier this summer, Pogba had surprised the club by indicating on social media that he intended to remain for the coming season, even though talks over his future had not yet started. As things stand, however, the Frenchman will not be continuing his career in the Principality.
