Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement with Barcelona to sign Spain forward Ferran Torres in a deal worth €55 million. The World Cup hero turned down contract renewal offers in Spain and is now poised to reunite with manager Luis Enrique in Paris.

PSG are on the brink of finalising Torres' transfer from Barcelona. According to Sport, Les Parisiens have agreed in principle with the Catalan club on a total package valued at €55 million, including bonuses. The French champions first had a €40m offer rejected by Blaugrana before raising their bid to €50m guaranteed plus €5m in add-ons. That figure matches the amount Barcelona paid to bring the 26-year-old to the club in 2021.

Torres is set to come in as a direct replacement for striker Goncalo Ramos, who left for AC Milan earlier this summer. The move addresses a major gap in PSG's attack after the Portuguese forward's departure.

A major reason behind the switch is Enrique's presence, with the coach having previously managed Torres during his time in charge of the Spain national team. The PSG boss personally called the attacker to explain his tactical plans and assure him of an important role through squad rotation.

Enrique repeatedly showed full faith in Torres at international level, even when the forward was under intense public criticism. The two also share a personal connection, as the hero of the 2026 World Cup final had previously dated the coach's daughter. Their strong mutual respect played a significant role in persuading Torres to choose Paris instead of staying in Catalonia. The manager's personal intervention ultimately proved decisive in securing the attacker's agreement.

Torres had an impressive 2025-26 season with Barcelona, scoring 16 goals in 33 Liga appearances. He further raised his standing by playing a leading role in Spain's 2026 World Cup success, finding the net in the final.

In spite of those performances, the 26-year-old rejected contract extension offers from the Barcelona hierarchy. Torres felt he was not sufficiently valued by the club's management and decided that a fresh environment was needed for his career. His departure now leaves Barcelona searching for answers, even though he remained a popular figure among his team-mates in the Blaugrana dressing room throughout his spell there.

Only the final administrative steps now stand between Torres and his official unveiling as a PSG player. With an agreement now in place between the two clubs, the transfer is expected to be wrapped up in the next few hours or days.

Torres is due to report to Barcelona's training centre on Wednesday. However, his visit will mainly be to say his final goodbyes to team-mates and staff before travelling to France. Once he arrives in Paris, the Spain international will undergo medical tests before signing his new contract, giving Enrique another powerful option in attack.
