After taking a look at the  , let us now take a look at he 4.2-metre to 4.5-metre SUV sales. This segment witnessed a sharp jump in sales in July 2026, aided by the inclusion of several new models. Total segment sales stood at 75,762 units, up from 46,779 units in July 2025, reflecting a growth of 61.96%. Compared to 60,252 units sold in June 2026, the segment also posted a strong 25.74% month-on-month increase.

Hyundai Creta retained its leadership with 18,088 units sold in July. Sales were up 7.04% YoY from 16,898 units and surged 152.34% MoM over June’s 7,168 units. Despite the arrival of multiple new rivals in past couple of months, Creta remains at the top by a huge margin.

Kia Seltos secured second place with 12,541 units, registering one of the strongest gains among established SUVs. Sales more than doubled with 108.67% YoY growth, while monthly volumes were up 29.90%. Maruti Victoris was at third position with 11,334 units while Grand Vitara ranked fourth with 8,127 units, posting 27.52% YoY growth despite a 10.61% MoM decline. Toyota Hyryder slipped to fifth with 7,187 units, recording declines on both fronts. Sales fell 18.46% YoY and 20.27% MoM, making it one of the few high-volume SUVs to report lower demand. Tata Sierra along with the newly launched Sierra EV registered 6,327 units, taking sixth place. Honda Elevate registered 1,949 units, improving 39.71% YoY and 24.86% MoM. Tata Curvv sold 1,697 units, down 15.36% YoY and 3.19% compared to June.

Maruti eVitara and Nissan Tekton reported with 1,675 and 1,670 units, respectively, entering the top ten. Volkswagen Taigun sold 1,225 units, declining 7.69% YoY but improving 3.64% MoM. Skoda Kushaq recorded 833 units, down 7.55% YoY and 16.03% MoM. MG ZS EV followed with 810 units, almost flat year-on-year with a marginal 0.61% decline, but down 23.44% from June.

Lower half sees new launches and sharp swings

Citroen C3 Aircross recorded 680 units, growing 279.89% YoY and an impressive 857.75% MoM. Mahindra BE 6 sales declined sharply to 541 units, down 65.01% YoY and 52.96% MoM. Sales decline is attributed to the with triple screen setup. Renault Duster registered 512 units – its lowest sales since launched earlier this year. Toyota Ebella registered 283 units. MG Astor registered 236 units, improving 391.67% YoY and 293.33% MoM, albeit on a relatively small base. Citroen Basalt remained at the bottom with 29 units, while Mahindra XUV400 ended the month with just 18 units, witnessing the steepest year-on-year decline of 93.79%.
