Optical Camo is one of the most useful stealth tools in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. It bends light around Nomad, making the character extremely difficult for enemies to see. It is especially helpful when infiltrating heavily guarded bases, sneaking past patrols, or getting close to dangerous enemies without starting a fight.

The important part is that Optical Camo is tied to Operation Motherland. You cannot simply buy it from a shop or find it as ordinary loot during the main campaign. You need to enter Conquest mode and progress through its opening missions.

How to Unlock Optical Camo

First, open the Objectives Board in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and select Operation Motherland. This launches the game’s Conquest mode and takes you into the opening region, UC-Sparkle.

Your first goal is to complete two Destabilization Missions in UC-Sparkle. These missions can involve objectives such as rescuing Outcast prisoners, destroying Bodark supplies, or liberating important locations. You do not have to complete every available Destabilization Mission. Completing two is enough to move the story forward.

After completing the required missions, you will receive a new objective called Intel and Asset. This mission is the key to obtaining the Optical Camo.

Follow the mission objectives until you reach the location containing the computer you need to hack. Before or around the computer objective, search the building carefully for a chest. The Optical Camo is inside this chest.

Open the chest, and the Optical Camo will be added to your gear. You can then equip it and use it through the item wheel.

How Optical Camo Works

Optical Camo does not make Nomad permanently invisible. It uses a battery that drains while the camouflage is active. Certain actions can consume the battery faster, so careless use can leave you exposed at the worst possible moment.

The device is most effective when you are trying to cross dangerous areas quietly. Staying crouched is usually a smart choice because enemies can still detect you through sound and other forms of awareness.

Remember these useful tips:

• Use Optical Camo when approaching enemies rather than activating it too early.
• Stay crouched when operating close to hostile soldiers.
• Avoid wasting the battery while moving through safe areas.
• Turn the camouflage off before the battery is completely empty so it can begin recharging.
• Be careful around drones and other enemies with strong detection abilities.
• Use stealth weapons and close-range attacks when possible.

How to Upgrade Optical Camo

The basic Optical Camo is useful, but its short battery life makes upgrades important. After unlocking it, you can access its dedicated upgrade menu from your loadout.

Upgrades improve different aspects of the device, including how long it can remain active and how much certain actions affect its battery. You will need Camo Points to purchase these improvements.

Camo Points can be earned through activities while using Optical Camo, but the fastest way to collect large amounts is usually finding special Camo Chests around Auroa. These chests are often located in areas protected by Behemoth combat drones, so reaching them can require careful planning or a direct fight.

As you collect more Camo Points, invest them into the upgrades that match your playstyle. Players who prefer aggressive stealth may benefit from improvements that reduce battery consumption during combat actions, while patient infiltrators may prefer longer active duration.
