Monsoon is now active across the country… Red Alert in Bengal-Odisha, Meteorological Department has issued a warning about these 15 states, read IMD Alert

Monsoon has once again been active in full swing across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a major alert for extremely heavy rains in West Bengal and Odisha. Over 15 states including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himalayas are forecast to experience heavy rains with strong winds. Coastal areas are also expected to experience severe weather with the possibility of gale-force winds at sea.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been warned over the hilly areas of North India, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himalayas and Uttarakhand for the next few days. The plains states like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh may also experience thundershowers. West India’s Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat regions are also likely to receive good rainfall. South India’s Kerala, Kartar and Tamil Nadu may also experience severe weather with gusty winds.

Red alert for heavy rains in Bengal and Odisha

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), West Bengal and Odisha have been warned of very heavy rain with thundershowers and winds of 40 to 50 kmph. Fishermen and citizens in coastal areas have also been advised to be cautious.

Heavy to very heavy rains in hill states

Heavy rain and lightning warning has been issued in Jammu and Kashmir, Himalayas and Uttarakhand till August 22. Especially during August 17 to 19, heavy to very heavy rains may occur in the hilly areas, due to which the risk of landslides has increased.

Monsoon active in North and West India

Heavy rains are expected in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in different phases from August 16 to 22. Apart from this, West India’s Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat are also likely to receive light to moderate rain at many places.

Rain with gusty winds in South and East India

Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been warned of rain with gusty winds of 50 to 60 kmph. Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim and north-eastern states of East India will continue with continuous rains with thundershowers.
