A new model from Ruf is always worth paying attention to, and Monterey Car Week has once again delivered exactly that. The latest arrival is the new Ehra, a widebody Ruf model that made its debut on Friday at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering.

Although it carries a fresh name, the Ehra is built on the company’s well-known carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and uses a 3.6-litre twin-turbo boxer six-cylinder engine. Output stands at a hefty 650 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. That power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed manual gearbox. According to the company, it is intended to be a model “that can tackle extreme performance while retaining everyday comfort and drivability.”

The name “Ehra” takes inspiration from the Ehra-Lessien proving ground, a venue closely tied to Ruf’s history. It was there that Phil Hill drove the Yellowbird to 211 miles per hour in 1987. Since then, Ruf has continued to create a long line of remarkable Porsche-based and Porsche-adjacent sports cars and supercars.

This new Ehra is broadly derived from the CTR Anniversary first shown in 2017, but it moves things forward with several revisions. Visually, Ruf has created new front and rear fascias, while the front track has been widened by 2.3 inches and the rear by 2.1 inches. A widebody kit covers the broader stance, and to improve downforce, the Ehra gets a new carbon-fibre active spoiler on the rear deck. It rises automatically at highway speeds, though the driver can also deploy it manually.

You will also spot new centre-lock forged wheels developed specifically for the Ehra. These bright-finish wheels are paired with an exterior painted in Liquid Silver. Inside, the cabin combines brown leather with a “Pasha” chequered flag pattern on the seats, along with Ruf’s signature green instruments.

Ruf has not revealed how many examples of the Ehra it plans to build, but it is likely to be both very limited in production and very expensive to own.
