Monsoon rains continue continuously in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in the state for tomorrow i.e. 18th August. According to Meteorological Center Lucknow, due to the depression and monsoon trough in the Bay of Bengal, rainfall activities have intensified in the entire state.

In view of this aggressive nature of weather, 'Yellow Alert' of heavy rain has been issued in 23 districts of Western and Eastern UP. People will get relief from the scorching heat and humidity due to continuous rains, but in the areas of heavy rains, they may also have to face waterlogging and major problems for transportation.

There will be pleasant weather in western and eastern UP, there will be heavy rain

Tomorrow the weather will remain pleasant but rainy in both Western Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Uttar Pradesh divisions. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a high possibility of rain and heavy showers with thunder and lightning at many places in these two areas. Along with this, extremely heavy rains have also been predicted in some areas of both the parts. In view of this bad weather, 'Yellow Alert' has been issued by the administration.

'Yellow alert' issued for these 23 districts

In view of the possibility of heavy rain, the Meteorological Department has issued 'Yellow Alert' in the 23 districts of the state, the list of which is as follows:

• Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Barabanki, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Mirzapur and Sonbhadra.

Residents of all these districts need to be especially cautious during rains and storms.

Why did monsoon suddenly become active?

According to Meteorological Center Lucknow, at present a strong low pressure area (depression) is formed in the Bay of Bengal and its surrounding coastal areas. Along with this, the monsoon trough (main line of winds) is also directly affecting Uttar Pradesh. Due to the combined effect of these two major weather systems, monsoon activities remain intense across Uttar Pradesh and continuous heavy rains are being seen.

Important advice from weather department for farmers

In view of the continuous rain and bad weather, farmer brothers need to take special precautions:

• Never go to work in your fields during rain or lightning.
• If you are outside the house, immediately take shelter in a safe permanent house.
• Do not stand under a big or lonely tree even by mistake.
• To protect your crops from damage due to waterlogging, make proper arrangements for drainage of excess water from the fields.

Take special care of children's safety

Parents should be extremely cautious about the safety of their children during rain and bad weather:

• Keep children completely safe indoors.
• Do not allow them to take bath outside in heavy rain, near waterlogged roads, pits and ponds.
• Keep children away from electrical appliances, wet switches or open wires inside the house, to avoid any untoward accidents.
