Pune: In the ongoing 16th Hockey India Junior Women's National Championship held at Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar, Pimpri, Hockey Jharkhand and Hockey Haryana consolidated their position in the qualification race with their second straight win in their group. Hockey Madhya Pradesh also made a strong comeback to win, while hosts Hockey Maharashtra lost 0-3 to Uttar Pradesh Hockey.

Hockey Jharkhand beat Hockey Punjab 3-1 in Division 'A', Group 'A'. Rajni Kerketta, Pushpa Dang and Salomi Nag scored for Jharkhand while Harpreet Kaur scored the lone goal for Punjab. With this win, Jharkhand got 6 points from two matches.Hockey Haryana defeated Hockey Association of Odisha 3-0 in Group 'B' to celebrate their second win in a row. Khushi, Anjani and Durga scored goals to keep Haryana top of the group with six points from two matches.

Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Chhattisgarh Hockey 3-1 in Group D. Goals from Sania Syed, Tanvi and Mithali Sharma clinched the win for Madhya Pradesh. Rukhmani scored for Chhattisgarh. In Group 'C', Uttar Pradesh Hockey recorded a resounding 3-0 win over hosts Hockey Maharashtra. Shweta Upadhyay, Annu and Vandana Patel scored a goal each.

Uttar Pradesh has taken the top spot with 4 points from two matches and Maharashtra is yet to open the points account. Meanwhile, in Sunday's matches in Division 'B', Hockey Mizoram beat Andhra Pradesh 4-1, Delhi Hockey beat Kerala 5-0, Hockey Karnataka beat Goans Hockey 9-0, and Hockey Bihar beat Tamil Nadu 5-1. Karnataka and Mizoram topped their respective groups.

In the group 'B' match, Hockey Haryana displayed an aggressive game and secured a big win over Hockey Bengal 10-1. This was the highest margin of victory in the tournament so far. Kaur Sukhpreet from Haryana scored two goals in 2nd and 21st minutes. Anjani scored in the 6th, 49th and 57th minutes to register a hat-trick.
