Italian champions Inter Milan have agreed a fee of €35 million with Liverpool for midfielder Curtis Jones.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool and Inter Milan have reached an agreement for Curtis Jones, with the transfer fee expected to be around €35 million. It is set to cost the Italian club a similar amount to the deal that brought Djed Spence to the side a couple of weeks ago.

Talks between the two clubs over the transfer of Curtis Jones have been going on for months. Inter’s interest in the midfielder goes back to the January transfer window, when it was reported that they were eager to take Jones to Milan on loan with an option to buy, but that move did not materialise.

After sustained speculation throughout the summer window, Inter Milan now appear to have finally secured their target, with the Englishman expected to travel for his medical in the next few days.

The move leaves Liverpool slightly short of options in central midfield, though it is still unclear whether they will try to sign a replacement for Jones or place their faith in players already in the squad. Youngster Trey Nyoni has impressed during pre-season and could be in line for a promotion to the first team, which would see him step into the role being vacated by Jones.

With this signing, Inter Milan are continuing to build an English group within their squad, having already signed Djed Spence and John Stones earlier in the transfer window.
