New Delhi, August 20 (IANS). American tech giant Google, by launching its new Pixel 11 series in India, has hinted at making the country an important center of its global expansion and manufacturing strategy. At a time when reports suggest Google may be phasing out production of Pixel smartphones, smartwatches and wireless earbuds from China, India is emerging as a major manufacturing and development hub for the company.
According to analysts, the Indian government's policies to promote local manufacturing and the rapidly growing electronics ecosystem have attracted global technology brands like Google. Google has already started production of select Pixel smartphone models in India. Local production began with the Pixel 8 in August 2024, and the company has since expanded its manufacturing activities in the country.
According to reports, Google has partnered with major suppliers like Foxconn to manufacture the new generation Pixel devices. This is expected to give India a stronger position in the global smartphone supply chain.
Mitul Shah, Managing Director, Devices and Services, Google India, said that the company's goal has always been to solve real problems of consumers, so that they can have a seamless experience of technology.
He said, “We are focused on solving real challenges to the daily needs of Indian consumers. The Pixel 11 series represents this philosophy, combining hardware, AI and long-term utility specifically tailored to people's everyday needs.”
Google said it is trying to reach more consumers in India through better financing options, expansion of service network and continued investment in the Pixel ecosystem.
The 11th generation of Pixel smartphones are introduced with more durable hardware, advanced camera systems and more active Gemini AI features. These devices are powered by the company's new Google Tensor G6 processor.
The new series includes Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. All these devices are equipped with AI capabilities based on Google's latest Gemini Nano model.
According to the company, the new Titan M3 security chip and specially developed Tensor G6 processor together provide the most robust and proactive security system ever. This will provide users with improved levels of data security and privacy.
