There had been major interest around who would start at centre-forward for Barcelona, considering they no longer have a senior striker in the squad.

And it is teenage sensation Hamza Abdelkarim who has been handed the role as the No. 9, making it a particularly special moment for the youngster as he comes up against his former club on his first-ever appearance at Spotify Camp Nou.

At the same time, Raphinha, who operated through the middle in the friendly against FC Basel, starts on the left wing. Lamine Yamal, meanwhile, takes up his usual position on the right.

Flick has chosen an all La Masia midfield setup, with Fermin Lopez playing as the No. 10, while Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart slot in as the double pivot behind him.

Pedri and Gavi are among the substitutes after not being included for the Basel trip.

In defence, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde start as the full-backs on either side of the central defensive pairing of Eric Garcia and Gerard Martin. Joan Garcia has been selected in goal for the Blaugrana.

New signings Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi will be hoping to get some minutes in front of the home fans later in the game.

Meanwhile, another new recruit, Rodri, is not part of the bench, meaning supporters will have to wait a little longer to see him in action.
