Cheung marked Lucas’s birthday on Aug. 2 by sharing a social media video showing him hugging her and telling her, “I want to hug you, I love you, Mom.”
The affectionate exchange quickly drew more than 1.4 million views, with many fans praising the close relationship between mother and son as well as Lucas’s warmth and maturity.
Lucas, whose Chinese name is Tse Chun-hin, studies music at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, according to St Headline. Like his father, he is developing his musical skills by writing songs, playing guitar and taking vocal lessons.
He has reportedly recorded several original tracks, although none have yet been released to the public.

Despite repeated approaches from entertainment agencies, television producers and modeling companies, Lucas appears in no hurry to enter show business and continues to prioritize his education.
Even without making an official entertainment debut, he frequently becomes a trending topic online. Search terms to his 19th birthday and appearance have climbed Weibo rankings, with many users commenting that he inherits the distinctive features of both parents.
Others say he also resembles his grandfather, veteran Hong Kong actor Patrick Tse, particularly in his confident and elegant demeanor.
Lucas maintains a low profile and does not use public social media accounts.
In Sydney, he reportedly lives much like an ordinary university student, taking public transportation and spending time playing sports. When he is photographed with his mother, he is often seen helping carry her belongings.
According to Dahao NewsLucas and his younger brother Quintus are expected to be the main beneficiaries of their grandfather Patrick Tse’s estate.
Patrick reportedly makes the decision because he believes his own children are already financially secure. He has also spoken of feeling sorry that his grandsons grow up after their parents’ separation and are raised mainly by their mother.
Patrick has repeatedly praised Cheung for the way she raises the children and says he has full confidence in her parenting.
Earlier this year, actress Carina Lau, a longtime family friend, also said on a reality program that Nicholas Tse’s mother, Deborah Lee, often speaks highly of her former daughter-in-law’s dedication to the boys.
Cheung and Tse marry in 2006 and announce their divorce in 2011. Tse rekindles his relationship with singer Faye Wong in 2014. Cheung gives birth to a third son in 2018 but keeps the father’s identity private.
Veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Jing said in a YouTube interview last year that Cheung and Tse continue to treat each other respectfully after their divorce and avoid criticizing one another publicly.
He said Tse provides generous financial support and remains involved in his sons’ lives, while Cheung makes an effort to ensure that the children continue to see him as a caring father.
“They may no longer be husband and wife, but when it comes to being parents, they are an absolute dream team,” Wong said.
