Panchayat Secretary caught taking Rs 13K bribe in Mancherial

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Panchayat Secretary while allegedly accepting a bribe on Friday, August 21.

The accused, J Varalaxmi, was serving as the panchayat secretary of the Lingayipalli village in Jannaram mandal, Mancherial district.

She allegedly demanded a bribe for granting permission to construct a house and for assigning a house number to the property in Lingayipalli village.

Varalaxmi had initially demanded Rs 20,000 but later agreed to accept Rs 13,000, ACB said.

She did not accept the bribe amount in cash and instead instructed the complainant to transfer the amount through PhonePe to another panchayat secretary named Lavanya.

Varalaxmi has been taken into custody and will be produced before a special ACB court in Karimnagar. Further investigation is underway.

Grama Palana Officer caught taking Rs 20K bribe

On Thursday, August 20, the Grama Palana Officer of Molangur, located in Shankarapatnam mandal of Karimnagar district, was caught by the ACB while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.

The accused, Kampeti Srinivas, had demanded a bribe for submitting the field survey report for registration of the complainant’s land and issuance of a pattadar passbook to the complainant.

He had initially demanded Rs 15,000 but then asked for another Rs 5,000.

Sub-inspector caught taking Rs 30K bribe

In a separate raid on Thursday, ACB caught Sub-Inspector Duvvala Anjaneyulu of the Rajampet Police Station in Kamareddy while allegedly accepting Rs 30,000 bribe.

He had demanded the bribe for giving station bail to the complainant’s son and to extend further favour to him while filing the charge sheet in the case, ACB said.
