Amidst rising inflation, news of a big relief for the women of Delhi has come to light. Delhi Government's much talked about 'Lakshmi Yojana 2026' (Delhi Lakshmi Yojana 2026) is now all set to get off the ground. From the first of next month i.e. September 1, financial assistance of Rs 2,500 will start reaching the bank accounts of eligible women of the capital every month. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has formally announced the next phase of this scheme after an important review meeting held at Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday (August 18). The main objective of the government is to make women economically empowered and self-reliant. After the application process started from August 1, the government has now intensified the work of scrutiny and verification of the forms.

This important work will start from 26th August

Now the most important step after the application submission is the verification of the beneficiaries. As per the instructions of the Chief Minister, the officials have started the work of sorting and checking the applications. Women whose applications are found to be completely correct will start receiving official sanction letters (approval letters) from the government from August 26. This letter will be a sure proof that you have been selected for the scheme.

The payment process will be activated immediately after the sanction letter is issued. The government has ensured that the first installment of Rs 2,500 starts being credited to all verified bank accounts from September 1. The entire system has been kept completely digital so that there is no rigging of any kind and the money reaches the right and entitled hands directly.

Which women will get the money in their account?

The benefit of the scheme is to reach that section of the society which needs it the most. For this, the government has set some strict rules. The age of the woman applying should be between 21 to 60 years. Along with this, it is mandatory for the woman or her family to reside in Delhi for at least the last 10 years.

If any member of the woman's family is in a government job, is a pensioner or pays income tax, then they will be considered out of the scope of this scheme. Women who are already taking regular benefits of any other government scheme will also not get its benefit. Apart from this, the applications of families who have four wheelers will be rejected. However, if you have an electric car (EV), the government has given it a special exemption from this rule.

These are two new ways to ask for money

The most special thing about this scheme is its modern payment system, which has been designed keeping in mind future savings. The government has given women two great options to receive money:

  • first option: Under this option, women can take Rs 1,000 directly into their Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet for their everyday needs. The remaining Rs 1,500 will be deposited in their Recurring Deposit (RD) or Fixed Deposit (FD) account.
  • Second option: For women who do not need money immediately and want to increase their savings for the future, there is another option. Under this, the entire amount of Rs 2,500 can be deposited directly into their RD or FD account.
