Pickup rammed into container after collision with trailer, driver dies

A speeding trailer hit a pickup from behind on NH-48 in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. The pickup rammed into the container moving ahead. Driver Nizam died in the accident. The police took out the body from the crane and started investigation.

Bhilwara: A horrific road accident took place on National Highway-48 in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan on Saturday. A speeding trailer hit a pickup vehicle from behind near Lambiya Toll in Rayala police station area. After the collision, the pickup went out of control and rammed into the container moving ahead. The accident was so serious that the pickup driver got badly trapped inside the vehicle and died on the spot.

As soon as information about the accident was received, police, toll workers and nearby villagers reached the spot. A rescue operation was carried out for about half an hour to get the driver out of the damaged vehicle. Eventually the body could be taken out of the pickup with the help of a hydra crane. The police have kept the body in the mortuary of Rayala Community Health Center through highway ambulance.

The pickup was going from Neemuch to Ajmer.

According to the police, the pickup vehicle was going from Neemuch towards Ajmer. On Saturday, when the vehicle reached Lambiya toll, a trailer coming at high speed from behind hit it. Due to the sudden collision from behind, the pickup driver could not control the vehicle.

After the collision, the pickup moved rapidly in the forward direction and collided with a container running in front of it. The front part of the pickup was badly damaged after being stuck between two vehicles. In the accident, the driver got trapped in the cabin of the vehicle and died on the spot due to serious injuries.

The driver was stuck in the pickup

People who reached the spot after the accident tried to pull out the driver, but due to the vehicle being badly damaged, there was difficulty in rescue. On receiving the information, Rayala police station also reached the spot and started the rescue work.

Police and local people together tried for about 30 minutes. After this, with the help of a hydra crane, the damaged part of the pickup was removed and the driver's body was taken out. However, by then the driver had died.

The body was taken to Rayala Community Health Center by highway ambulance, where it was kept safe in the mortuary. The police have started the necessary legal process.

Police have identified the deceased as Nizam. He was 30 years old and is said to be the son of Sadiq Muslim. According to police, Nizam was a resident of Barna, district Kishangarh.

After receiving information about the accident, the family of the deceased was also informed about the incident. Police are now investigating the circumstances of the accident and other aspects including the speed of the vehicles.

After the accident, a large number of toll workers and villagers gathered near Lambiya toll. Traffic was affected for some time due to damaged vehicles parked on the road and crowd of people. Due to the queue of vehicles on the highway, a jam-like situation was created.

Police reached the spot and removed people from the road and arranged the traffic. After removing the damaged vehicles, traffic on the highway became normal.

Police started investigation into the accident

Rayala police station has started investigating the case. According to preliminary information, the main cause of the accident is believed to be the rear-end collision of a speeding trailer. However, the actual causes of the accident and facts to the speed of the vehicles will be confirmed only after the investigation is completed.

Police are collecting information from eyewitnesses of the accident. It is also being ascertained whether the trailer driver had made any effort to save the pickup from the collision or not. The condition of the trailer and container has also been inspected after the accident.

Questions raised again regarding road safety on NH-48

National Highway-48 is one of the major roads of Rajasthan and a large number of passenger and goods vehicles along with heavy vehicles pass through it. In such a situation, the risk of accidents increases due to fast moving trailers and other heavy vehicles.

This accident in Bhilwara once again brings to the fore the need to maintain safe distance on the highway, control speed and drive heavy vehicles carefully. Especially in rear collision accidents, there can be serious danger to the drivers and passengers of small vehicles.

At present, the police have kept the body in the mortuary and have started further action. The vehicles involved in the accident are being investigated and other facts to the incident are being collected. More information regarding the accident is expected to emerge after the police investigation is completed.
