The makers of Mahakali, the much-awaited next chapter in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), have unveiled the film's first glimpse, giving audiences a striking preview of the battle between Dharma and Adharma. Directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, the film is set to arrive worldwide on January 8 next year.
Titled '#Shukracharya’s War Cry', the two-minute-and-53-second glimpse plunges straight into a looming conflict that appears to extend far beyond a conventional fight between good and evil.
At the centre of the escalating confrontation is Shukracharya, the powerful guru of the Asuras. The glimpse points towards a war with consequences on a much larger scale, while its dark atmosphere and images of an approaching conflict suggest that “the end begins”.
That ominous build-up lays the groundwork for the larger battle that will unfold in Mahakali.
The biggest talking point from the glimpse is undoubtedly Akshaye Khanna, who appears almost unrecognisable as Shukracharya.
With a fierce expression and commanding presence, the actor brings a formidable intensity to the character. His portrayal also builds on the curiosity created by his earlier first look, offering viewers a much closer glimpse of the Asura guru and his place in the looming clash between Dharma and Adharma.
The glimpse also gives audiences a broader view of the world being created for Mahakali. Grand sets of visuals, detailed world-building and elaborate visual effects combine to establish the scale of the upcoming film.
Sriya Reddy also makes a powerful appearance, adding further mystery to the story. The detailed visuals suggest that the makers are aiming for an ambitious, larger-than-life cinematic experience.
