Juventus have officially confirmed Michele Di Gregorio’s move to Bournemouth, with the Turin club set to receive €1.3 million plus bonuses.

Michele Di Gregorio’s transfer from Juventus to Bournemouth is now final. The former Monza goalkeeper will play in the Premier League this season, with the loan deal and purchase option made official today. The Inter youth product made 84 appearances for Juventus across all competitions.

Juventus statement: how much the club will receive

Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announced that it has reached an agreement with AFC Bournemouth for the temporary transfer of the registration rights of player Michele Di Gregorio until 30 June 2027 for a fee of €1.3 million. That amount could increase, during the term of the player’s sporting performance contract, by up to €0.8 million if certain sporting targets are achieved. The agreement also grants Bournemouth the option to acquire the player’s registration rights permanently for an additional €12.7 million, to be paid over three financial years. This amount may also increase, during the term of the player’s sporting performance contract, by up to €1.5 million if certain sporting targets are met.

Di Gregorio: “Bournemouth really wanted me”

Bournemouth said in their statement:

AFC Bournemouth are pleased to announce the signing of Michele Di Gregorio on a season-long loan from Juventus. The 29-year-old goalkeeper arrives at the Cherries after establishing himself as one of Serie A’s most highly rated number ones, bringing major experience at the highest level of Italian and European football. Di Gregorio started his professional career at Inter before gaining important first-team experience during loan spells with Renate, Novara and Pordenone. He then enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Monza, helping the club achieve their historic promotion to Serie A.

Those displays in Italy’s top division brought him widespread recognition: he was named Serie A’s best goalkeeper for the 2023/24 season, keeping 14 clean sheets in 37 appearances in all competitions. After joining Juventus in the summer of 2024, he played in both domestic and European competitions, adding UEFA Champions League experience to his profile.

Speaking about his move to AFC Bournemouth, Di Gregorio said: “I’m very happy to be here. It is a very important moment for me and I believe the decision to come to Bournemouth was the right one.

“I felt the club’s strong desire to bring me here and I sensed the ambition of the club to keep growing and achieving great milestones. The Premier League is the best league in the world. It is an honour for me to be here and to have the chance to play at such a high level.”

Tiago Pinto, AFC Bournemouth’s president of football operations, said: “Michele is a goalkeeper of excellent quality and has valuable experience at the highest level. He has consistently shown his value in Serie A and in European competitions, and we are convinced he will be an excellent addition to our squad.”

Di Gregorio will wear AFC Bournemouth’s number 20 shirt and will join his new team-mates before the club’s first home Premier League match of the season, which is scheduled for this weekend.

Penalty if the purchase option is not exercised

According to Fabrizio Romano, if Bournemouth choose not to trigger the option, they would still be required to pay Juventus €1.5 million as a penalty.
