FC Barcelona have officially confirmed the signing of Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the La Liga champions, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2030.

“Agreement reached between FC Barcelona and Fenerbahce SK for the transfer of Dominik Livakovic. The Croatian keeper signs for four seasons up to 30 June 2030,” the club said in its official statement.

Negotiations over Livakovic’s move gathered momentum over the past week. Initially, it was expected that Barcelona would sign him and then send him out on loan for this season, before bringing him into the squad next year after Wojciech Szczesny’s contract came to an end.

However, that plan changed in the last few days, with the Croatia international — who caught the eye at the 2026 FIFA World Cup — arriving in Catalonia earlier this week to undergo his medical and complete the remaining formalities.

The transfer has now been made official, with Livakovic returning to La Liga after spending the first half of last season on loan at Girona.

Although Barcelona’s statement does not disclose the financial details of the deal, it is understood that the club have signed the veteran goalkeeper for €2 million, with a further €2 million to be paid in add-ons.

Livakovic is expected to act as backup to Joan Garcia in the Barcelona squad, while Szczesny is likely to take up the role of the club’s third-choice goalkeeper this season.
