With the 2026/27 campaign set to deliver another blockbuster season, a number of players look well placed to take a significant step forward in their careers.
Here are six players who could leave a major mark on the WSL this season.
Brighton have strengthened their squad with a number of additions this summer, but Emilie Joramo may prove to be among the most important of them.
The Norway international signed for the Seagulls on a free transfer from Hammarby after spending two and a half years in Sweden.
The 24-year-old midfielder offers a blend of defensive industry and ball progression that could make her especially valuable in Dario Vidosic’s team.

Given that Drury made her senior debut only in January, she fully deserves her place on this list.
A product of Manchester United’s academy, Drury moved into the first-team set-up after training with the Under-16 and Under-21 squads for just over a year.
Then aged 16, she made history by scoring in the FA Cup match against Burnley. That made her both the club’s youngest first-team player and youngest goalscorer. After that landmark moment, she went on to make several more appearances from the bench as a substitute.
She signed her first professional contract with United during the summer, and there is every chance she will feature in the upcoming campaign.
This season could be about taking the next step. If Drury begins to receive more regular minutes, she could quickly develop into one of the WSL’s most exciting young prospects.
The now 17-year-old forward also brings international experience, having already represented England at Under-20 level after previously playing for Wales and making her international switch earlier this year.
With both club and international opportunities opening up, it could be an exciting season for Drury.
London City Lionesses have made some of the biggest moves of the summer. However, Anyomi may be one of those under-the-radar signings who goes on to make a huge impact.
The Germany international joined from Eintracht Frankfurt on a four-year contract after spending five seasons with the club. During her time at Frankfurt, she established herself as a key attacking player.
Anyomi brings pace, versatility and directness to London City, having played in a variety of attacking roles over the course of her career.
With London City carrying major ambitions, Anyomi now has the chance to bring her Bundesliga experience into a new setting.
Naturally, much of the attention has been on Arsenal’s bigger summer signings, but Lisa Baum could turn out to be one of the most exciting new arrivals.
The 19-year-old winger joined the Gunners from RB Leipzig after scoring six goals in 26 Bundesliga appearances during her single season at the club. Before that, she helped Hamburger SV rise from Germany’s third tier to the Bundesliga, scoring 21 goals in 68 appearances.
Baum is a direct, athletic wide forward who likes to cut in from the right and attack on her left foot.
She will face strong competition. However, her ability to take on defenders one-on-one could give Renée Slegers another option in the final third.
A successful first season in England could be the start of something much bigger for a player who has already shown throughout every stage of her career so far that she can make an impact.
The WSL’s biggest stars will naturally dominate the headlines once again this season. Yet there are also future stars ready to seize their moment alongside some of the best players in the world.
Joramo has the opportunity to establish herself as a key midfielder at Brighton, while Agrež arrives at Liverpool with the experience to strengthen their defence.
